Je suis arrivé!

I know it's been a while since I posted but it has been exactly eight days since I have left the United States and I can tell you right now I'm in no rush to get back. When I first left, I landed in London and it was one of the best two days of my life. There were tons of museums, shopping, and pubs, there were even some pubs that were museums. I saw a show in the West End, and had the traditional fish and chips dinner. But it was all over too soon, and off to Grenoble we went. 

Now, as for Grenoble, it has to be one of the BEST cities in France if not the world. It's small but not too small. Not to mention it has so much history and culture including being the starting point for the French Revolution! It is surrounded by three mountain ranges, one of which can be seen at the end of every street you walk down. I also happen to have one of the best views in Grenoble from my host family's apartment right near Centre-Ville. So I guess you could say I'm on more of a vacation than studying abroad...when I'm not in class that is. 

Now speaking of classes, I have just started classes today after lots and lots of meetings and the ill-fated placement test. I mean the classes sound interesting and will definitely be helpful for learning French, but apparently I'm not so good at it as I thought I was. So, since I am one for giving tips (I know you liked my packing one), I will give you one of the best websites for homework, study, or essay help for any class from oceanology to French.

The website I am talking about is called transtutors.com and is designed to help students who are having trouble with class or homework. This is probably one of the best tools for students to use because if you have a question, just go to the website, type it in like you would on Google and instead of trying to sift through millions of possible websites, you get help from a teacher or professor in that field. 

It's a great help because they don't directly give you the answer to your question, but instead help you find it yourself like in a classroom. Now I know that sounds like it's not the point of the whole "it's like Google, but better" thing I was just saying. But what happens if you're in class and the professor asks you how you got the answer? I don't think, "I found it on Wikipedia..." is the correct response. 

So use it to your advantage because Transtutors.com also has help for creating resumes, cover letters, or what ever else is needed for a job or internship. There is online tutoring available for all levels of students, from high school all the way up to PhD programs. I can tell you, with the amount of French I need to learn in order to keep my grades up, getting help from transtutor.com is definitely the way to get the extra help I need. 

So hopefully you will listen to this tip because we all know how teachers get when you even mention Wikipedia or a non-peer edited source. So sign up, or get the free trail, or just buy the membership because it’s definitely cheaper than hiring a tutor. With the coming weeks hopefully I will have settled in more and everyone can see all the French food and scenery that comes with becoming Grenoblois! A bientôt!
